One thing the past two years have taught us is that we cannot assume that things will carry on as before – there is no ‘normal’. Normal is what we make of today. What will we make of 2022?
Christmas is so often reduced to ‘things’: things given and received as gifts; things bought for special meals; things fixed around the house; things broken as children descend on our peace and quiet.
But Christmas is about a person – my faith celebrates that person as a baby who grew up and took the sin and sickness of the world on himself to a cross – so, whatever our faith background, let’s make this Christmas more about people than things. Whether buying, preparing or fixing, let’s become conscious of people around us: staff, carers, tellers, friends and family, young and old. Let’s give the gift of noticing and letting people know that they matter.
And, in 2022, may we discover that there are special people all around us, and may we enrich their lives as they enrich ours.
Blessings to you and yours.
From Ian and Jen.
